Biography

I am an Oxford Martin Fellow and Senior Research Associate in the Department of Computer Science at Oxford University. My research focuses on investigating the impact of algorithm-driven decision makings upon our everyday lives, with a particular emphasis on families and young children. For this, I take a human-centred approach, focusing on understanding real users' needs, in order to design technologies with tangible, real-world impacts.

Currently, I am leading several projects, including the UKRI-funded CHAILD project, the IAA and Innovate UK-funded Ethical Design programme, and Oxford Martin School's EWADA project. I work closely with schools, children, families as well as technologists for children, to understand the technological, societal and regulatory challenges that we are facing, to inform national and international policymakers, technology designers and families.

I am frequently invited to speak at national and international venues on designing ethical AI systems for children. I am currently serving on the advisory boards of Oxford AIEOU and the Oxford Reuben College's Generation AI programe.

For further information about my research activities, latest outputs and invited talks please see my external web page.
